April 1

I have temporarily moved to a trailer with my children – one a baby, the other about 12. It’s cozy and clean and I like it, but for some reason, we have to move back to the apartment we were previously in. Again, this is temporary, and I know that we will have to return to the trailer. I am trying to decide what to pack, and I am frustrated since it seems that I have to move just about everything related to the baby’s care. I’m sorting through a closet and becoming more flustered by the minute, so I decide to take a drive. My oldest child doesn’t want to come, so I pop the baby into the car seat and we drive off. We arrive at the intersection where the road to our apartment begins. I pull over because there’s lots of commotion and cop cars and I’m curious to see what is going on. I take the baby out of the car and start walking across the parking lot. I am suddenly being briskly escorted away by a cop who tells me that I need to leave the scene immediately. A crime has been committed and they are trying to apprehend the criminal. The cop is fearful that the offender could grab the baby out of my arms and use him as a shield to try to get away.
