I am in a very crowded church sitting in one of the last rows. After I am seated, a young man enters and makes his way to the pew where I sit. He sidles past me and sits near the person closest to my right. He is holding two tee shirts that are perfectly folded as if in a store display. He interrupts the priest leading the service to announce that he has found two tee shirts left behind by someone from a previous service and that if anyone has lost them to see him. The priest pauses for a moment and then continues the service. Meanwhile to my left is seated a woman who appears very bored. She fidgets and sighs and I wonder why she is there. In an effort to address her boredom she loudly and obtrusively engages with a baby that someone has brought to church. The woman who brought the baby heads to the rear of the church to exit only to be followed by the bored woman who is now waving a baby toy in a last-ditch effort to be amusing.
