I am home and 5-6 kids under the age of 10 come knocking at
my door. They want to know if my kids can come out to play. Home is not my
actual house, but instead it is my parents’ house. I recognize the neighborhood
kids, but I tell them that my children won’t be joining them. I am unsure of
the reason I gave them or even whether my children are home at the time. The kids
walk off and return a few minutes later with the same request. I repeat the
reason that my children won’t be joining them. They leave and come back again.
This goes on a few times with the kids banging loudly on the door each time. I
finally lose my patience and call them a few choice names. They call me names
in return. When I think they have finally given up, I see them walking off with
several outdoor toys that belong to my children which the neighborhood kids
have pilfered. I recognize my little brother’s red wagon among the items, and I
am livid. I let them have it again. The kids ignore me and walk off with the
toys.
